lanEn Marie-Véronique Bourque (MV) is an acclaimed jazz flutist and singer-songwriter, renowned for her bold artistry and signature crossover Jazz style. Originally from Québec and now based in Regina, she blends original compositions with fresh interpretations of jazz standards, creating a unique and captivating sound.

A semi-finalist of the 2024 International Songwriting Competition (ISC), a 2023 Trille Or nominee and winner of the National Flute Association (NFA) Jazz Flute Big Band Competition, MV has also been nominated for Saskatchewan Music Awards (2018, 2021). Her albums, Entre Québec & Saskatchewan (2021) and Une porte s’ouvre (2018), both ranked among Saskatchewan’s Top 5 Best Albums of the Year and appeared on the !Earshot National Jazz Charts.

MV has performed internationally. She has worked with renowned artists like Orlando Harrison (Alabama 3) and opened for jazz greats Carol Welsman (2018) and Derrick Gardner (2022).

2025 is set to be another milestone year, with the release of her Fantasy for Solo Flute on Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody and a full jazz album, QuéSask, launching on May 9, in collaboration with Juno-nominated guitarist Christine Tassan from Montreal.

Classically trained at the Conservatoire de musique de Québec, she earned First Prizes in flute and chamber music before joining the RCMP band in 1992. Following its disbandment, she dedicated over 25 years as a police officer, while continuing to hone her jazz craft through studies in Canada, France, and the USA.

A member of the Regina Symphony Orchestra and the Quarter Tones Flute Ensemble, MV continues to push musical boundaries and captivate an ever-growing audience.
